Ian Mitchell

Managing Director,
Palisade Investment Partners
Ian is a founding Director of Palisade Investment Partners. He has over 40 years experience in commercial and investment banking.
Immediately prior to the establishment of Palisade, he had for two years been the principal in a private consulting practice focusing on the infrastructure sector.
Ian established the project finance business for Societe Generale in Australia and managed the business from start up to a position of a market leader. He resigned in 2005 from the position of Managing Director after 14 years of operations during which the business recorded a zero credit loss record. In 2001 a survey of the Australian project finance market by East & Partners ranked Societe Generale as #1 in technical competence and equal #2 in quality of people.
Previously, Ian was a senior executive with Bankers Trust Australia. He co-founded the leveraged lease/tax based financing business and developed the business from start up to a market leadership position.
Ian is a lawyer, admitted as a Barrister-at-Law in the Supreme Court of NSW and is an Associate of the Bankers Institute of Australasia.
Hon. Mark Vaile

Chairman, Palisade's Regional Infrastructure Fund
Mark was appointed as Chairman for Palisade’s Regional Infrastructure Fund in August 2008. His role as Chairman is to assist in securing assets which satisfy PRIF's targeted sectors, using extensive experience and his focus on regional development and infrastructure.
Mark resigned from the Federal Parliament in July 2008, after 15 years as the national member for Lyne in Northern NSW.
During his time in Federal Parliament, he held senior ministerial portfolios of:
- Transport & Regional Development and Local Government (1997 – 1998)
- Agriculture Fisheries and Forestry (1998 -1999)
- Trade (1999 – 2006)
- Transport and Regional Services (2006-2007)
Mark previously held leadership positions in Local Government and owned a successful stock & station agency.
Roger Lloyd

Director, Investments
Roger has over 18 years funds management and investment banking experience, with over 2 years with Perpetual Investments, including as Head of Infrastructure and 12 years with Macquarie Bank and previously Bankers Trust Australia (acquired by Macquarie in 1999).
Roger was in the project finance division of Macquarie’s Investment Banking Group, where he focused on infrastructure, working with both Government and private sector clients. In this role, Roger was involved in origination of transactions, consortium formation, structuring and arranging debt and equity across a broad range of infrastructure projects.
Roger commenced his funds management career at Bankers Trust with 2 years in portfolio accounting.
His prior experience includes 6 years in insolvency and reconstruction, having worked with leading practitioners Ferrier Hodgson and previously Price Waterhouse.
Roger is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business from Kuring-gai College (now University of Technology Sydney) and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jim Fanning

Portfolio Manager
Jim has been responsible for acquisition activities for the Regional Infrastructure Fund since May 2007 after joining Perpetual in June 2006 as the Chief Operating Officer for Perpetual Support Services.
Jim has over 30 years experience in the financial services and property sectors and has held senior executive positions in MLC, BT Financial Group, Westpac and Lend Lease.
His extensive experience covers 15 years with Lend Lease and its subsidiaries in a variety of general management roles including the project management and leadership of numerous large scale building projects. Prior to this Jim had 5 years with Transfield covering bridge, wharf and tunnel civil works.
Jim holds a Master of Business Administration from the Australian Graduate School of Management, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) from the University of New South Wales.
Vicki Rigg

Investment Manager
Vicki has extensive experience in the infrastructure sector, having worked for 10 years in the project finance teams of Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Sydney and Linklaters in London and Hong Kong, prior to joining the infrastructure team at Perpetual Investments in October 2007, acquired by Palisade in August 2008.
Her experience involves all aspects of infrastructure transactions including acting for sponsors and financiers in relation to the development, acquisition and financing of projects in Australia, Asia, India and the UK. In Australia Vicki has been involved in transactions in a wide variety of sectors including hospitals in NSW (including Newcastle Mater and Orange) and Victoria (Royal Childrens)and other PPP transactions (including Long Bay Forensic Hospital and Prison and LEAP 1). She has also advised on roads, airports, gas pipelines, renewable energy projects, power stations, transmission assets, pipelines, and LNG liquefaction and regasification facilities.
Vicki is admitted as a Solicitor in both NSW and England & Wales and holds a Bachelor of Arts (Law)/Master of Arts (Law) from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge University.
Julian Widdup

Investment Manager
Julian had over 12 years asset consulting experience, prior to joining Palisade in 2010 he worked for seven years with Access Capital Advisers (including as Partner and Head of Investment Operations) and for five years with Towers Perrin.
Throughout Julian’s asset consulting career, he has specialised in the management of unlisted investments for superannuation fund clients.  In these roles, Julian was involved in sourcing transactions, investment due diligence, financial modelling, and negotiating and closing transactions.  He was also responsible for the ongoing asset management for a broad range of infrastructure projects covering airports, toll roads, commercial car parks, marine ports, network assets, electricity assets and gas assets.
His prior experience also includes three years in the government sector, having worked with the Australian Bureau of Statistics and the Insurance and Superannuation Commission (now APRA).
Julian is a qualified actuary and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the Australian National University.
   
Vipul Luthra

Investment Manager
Vipul has been Financial Controller with Palisade since July 2008, with 8 years prior experience in accounting and financial controller roles. This role includes management of external accounting service providers, preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements and management of portfolio reporting
After commencing his career with chartered accounting firm, KPMG in Zambia, Vipul spent 4 years as Financial Controller in small to medium sized entity, EC Mining. He performed leading roles in decision-making relating directly to the running of the business.
In Australia, Vipul has been responsible for the accounting and operational functions of financial service entities, including BNP Paribas (as Investment Accountant) and Brookfield Multiplex (as Senior Fund Accountant – Hybrid Investments).
Vipul has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Delhi and Honours Diploma in Software Technology from National Institute of IT, New Delhi. He is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK) and is currently pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.
   
Dan Roberts

Investment Manager
Dan joined Palisade in January 2012, with 6 years experience in M&A advisory, debt structuring and principal investment with the Macquarie Group in Sydney and London.
With Macquarie Group, Dan worked in the Infrastructure & Renewable Energy sectors. His roles included origination, execution and transaction management of investments, and involved coordination of valuation, due diligence and documentation of equity, mezzanine debt, senior debt and other project agreements. This role was performed for the Macquarie Group as principal investor and in an advisory capacity for co-investors and infrastructure funds.
Previously, Dan worked with PricewaterhouseCoopers for 2.5 years in their Financial Services Group with exposure to auditing and accounting in funds management, banking, foreign exchange and financial regulatory.
Dan holds a Masters of Finance from the INSEAD Business School and a Bachelor or Business from the University of Technology, Sydney.
Jonathan Chau

Investment Manager, Legal
Jonathan has experience in the banking and infrastructure sectors, having worked for the previous 4 years in the project finance and infrastructure team of Mallesons Stephen Jaques in Sydney.
Jonathan has been involved in the infrastructure and transactions in relation to the various projects and assets including ports, gas pipelines, renewable energy projects, LNG liquefaction projects. He has also been involved in financing transactions and debt restructures more generally.
Jonathan is admitted as a Solicitor in NSW and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from UNSW.
Ashley Matus

Assistant Accountant
Ashley joined Palisade in January 2012. During the prior 2 years, Ashley worked with PayPal Australia in Accounting, including all elements of financial reporting, and in Sales Operations with responsibilities including analysis of turnover, revenue, funding source and cross border transactions.
Ashley gained her initial experience in financial accounting, auditing and tax return preparation for small to medium enterprises with 3 years as Assistant Accountant in general accounting practices, Bracey & Assocs and John P Smith on the Central Coast, NSW.
Ashley has a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Newcastle.
